Personal highlights for Niykee include getting selected to be part of Snoop on the YouTube Brandcast, in May 2013, and writing songs despite all the turmoil in the last couple of years. A producer magnet Niykee has a constant eye on the numerous beats delivered to her. The majority are a source of new music ideas. "I'll be able tell in the first five seconds if it's a good beat. When I've got a melody in my brain and I begin to write right away." I'll sit out on my backyard with my guitar, and then the lyrics appear and it's usually completed in less than 30 minutes. Niykee keeps working on her abilities as a poet and the lyricist. She explains how her experiences of suffering in the past can be a source of unique inspiration. It's tough to forget memories that are painful from my early years, particularly losing my younger sister. These memories are incorporated in her music. The resulting music is shaped by my experiences and provides it with a deeper meaning, which I find extremely important. I'd like to be able to hear my music 20 years from now and feel proud of the things I've written.
