Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a popular public speaker. Feminist Frequency was created by Sarkeesian. The website hosts videos featuring commentary and analysis of the representations of women that are prevalent in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic who has been awarded accolades for her work. She is an activist blogger. She is the author and director of executive for Feminist Frequency an educational, non-profit website which explores representations of women in pop culture narratives. As well as working to expose the issues surrounding the targeted and sexist attacks on women, other minorities in online spaces she is determined to break down the stigmas and stereotypes prevalent in popular culture. Sarkeesian is a graduate in political thought and social theory from York University. She is an extremely well-respected and respected public speaker. Sarkeesian has given speeches at the TEDxWomen XOXO Fest and United Nations Broadband Working Group. At a young age, Sarkeesian was fascinated by issues of gender identity and feminist thinking. When she was still in school, in 2009, she created her Feminist Frequency Website. She was a young woman with a dream to develop an online series that would examine gender roles in games. In the end, she ended up being the victim of online harassment. This attack didn't stop her, rather it strengthened her determination as an activist for women in media. She has won numerous awards in recognition of her many prominent contributions to the field of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian is an award nominated media critic as well as the co-founder of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit which studies the portrayals of women within pop media narratives.
